TCL Skiffle Bunch Steel Orchestra
Photos By Akil Borneo

Today, the National Steel Pan Orchestra as well as The TCL Skiffle Bunch Steel Orchester played tonight at the Skiffle Bunch pan yard tonight.
Here is a brief history on the group. (Feel free to check there website as well.)

Since 1977, The TCL Skiffle Bunch Steel Orchestra has been the leader among Traditional or 'Pan Around the Neck' groups in Trinidad and Tobago. In 1993, having matured through this rewarding and illustrious apprenticeship, they donned Conventional Band Status and have since challenged the very best in that category. As a prelude to this status and broadening their cultural horizons into Indian Music categories as well; they entered as a Convention band and placed 6th in the first ever Pan Ramajay Competition in 1989 and came 2nd in the Hindi Nidhi Competition of 1990.
Tonight was just amazing. The blissful melody of of every beat joining together to create such delicate sound. It is something you have to experience for yourself.
Don't worry you will find me playing for panorama next year.

Cultural Explosion

-A Cultural Explosion-

I had an eventful weekend, went to all types of events and shows.

The man caught my attention, most people can't play two flutes at once. He is part of a parang group.
Parang is a type of music with Caribbean and Latin American cultural influences. The word is derived from the Spanish word parranda, meaning 'merry-making' or 'a group of serenaders'. Parang is a popular folk music of Trinidad and Tobago, it is part of the Island's Hispanic heritage that originated from over 400 years ago during Spanish rule in Venezuela.

-Moko Jumbies-

Moko Jumbies are stilt walkers or dancers. The origin of the term may come from "Moko" (a possible reference to an African god) and "jumbi", a west Indian term for a ghost or spirit that may have been derived from the Kongo language word zumbi. The Moko Jumbies are thought to originate from West African tradition brought to the Caribbean. Thanks wikipedia.org

Dont worry more pictures to come

Have a Nice Day

The Beginning

Beginning

-Trinidad Sunrise-

Today I woke up at exactly 6:05 am and saw a spark of yellow forcing its way into my room. I was sharp as an razors edge. So I went outside on my step and saw one of the most beautiful sunrises in a long time.

I took this picture to signify the beginning of a new chapter in my life. How cliche? New chapter, new book, new page.... how many times are you going to hear those terms. Well, Akil Stephon Borneo is waking up to a new sunrise.

Let's hope that the next picture of a sunset will be my last.

-Have a Good Day-

But do not worry my fellow viewers, moments frozen in time will shared very shortly.

Water Spouts of Imagination

In the middle of my world, I constantly observe the space where sky never changes color. If strangers pass my special place, they will see unlimited amounts of blissful characters.

If they are extra observant, they will see clear glass vase holding an apple tree, its vibrant color proof of the seasons that have went by without anyone being there to witness such amazing transformation.

So don't worry in my world everyone knows me, so I'm famous.

Nothing special... Just my unique imagination.

"Would u have ever thought that the first election you would ever vote in would be this historical..."
-Siohban Traverso

November 4th, 2008, We elect Senator Barack Obama to guide this country as president of the United States. The is a historical election. Not only because he is the first African American president, but its time to start worrying about our people rather than how rich we can make Wall Street.

This day will live in our memories as long as we live, we will be told to future generations. And remember America, from the inspirational endeavors and words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.........

"We shall overcome"

Obama

Obama

As you probably aware by know Senator Barrack Obama's grandmother died today. The day before election.

Sad to say I admire this man. Facing adversity since this campaign started. Holding his head high when his opponents tries to belittle him. That is truly a perfect example characteristics defined by EPICNESS.

Follow me...
His Entire life his grandmother has been hid pillar. She guided him through a country in which the influence of negative behavior is common.
Leading up to this very day. The day before one of the most important days of Mr. Obama's life. She was like his guardian angel. Protecting him from everything.

That is LOVE.
